Drill Blocks for Dumpling Squishy Upgrade timing, not fake drill SKUs

Buy power when the wall stalls — we will not invent a catalog of named pickaxes.

Drill Tiers

Your drill is the only tool that turns a block wall into a squishy. Drill Blocks for Dumpling Squishy is first-person: you aim at a square dirt pit with a grass rim, chew through blocks, and hope the next break is worth placing. This page ranks when to spend cash on the next drill, not a fan-made list of SKU names. If a thumbnail promises “Top 10 Drills” with titles we cannot read on the upgrade button, ignore it. The client’s upgrade panel is the catalog. This wiki explains the timing.

Pair this with the tier list hub so you do not buy a drill while an empty plot slot is still printing nothing, and with drill power for the mechanical feel of each swing. If you are unsure whether the next purchase is power or density, open the progression planner and run the stall test below before you tap buy.

The stall test (the only S-tier rule)

A drill upgrade is S-tier right now when all of these are true:

  • Your plot has no empty holes (or you are about to fill the last one with the next drop).
  • You can watch a wall and see your bite rate flatten — seconds per block stop improving even though you are still aiming.
  • Cash/sec from placed squishies can pay the upgrade without wiping the buffer you need for one more rare hunt.
  • You are not about to leave the session; a drill you buy and then AFK on a finished wall is a wasted spike.

A drill upgrade is not S-tier when:

  • You still have open plot slots. Fill generators first. An idle slot is a zero. A slightly slower drill with five printers beats a shiny new bit and three empty pads.
  • You are swapping commons for better rarities and the wall is still dying in a comfortable rhythm.
  • You cannot read the next price. If the shop is a blur, do not guess. Open it, read the number, compare it to about sixty seconds of your current cash/sec.

We will not name fake drills (no “Emerald Crank III”, no “Galaxy Bit”). Rank the purchase moment, then let the in-game label tell you which button you actually pressed.

Timing bands you can use in a live server

Think in bands, not letters glued to imaginary items:

  • Early session (empty or half-empty plot). Drill spend is F-tier. Your cash should become placed squishies. The first-person pit is a source of drops, not a DPS check yet.
  • Plot is full, wall still melts. Drill spend is C-tier. Keep farming for rarity upgrades. Check rarity tiers so you know which labels are worth a swap.
  • Plot is full, wall feels sticky, later zone is gated. Drill spend jumps to A or S. This is the drill power moment. Buy the next visible upgrade, then immediately go back to the wall to confirm the bite improved. If it did not, you bought cosmetics or the wrong row — undo the plan, not your pride.
  • You just unlocked a later zone. Re-run the stall test. New blocks are often thicker. A drill that was fine in the starter pit can be C-tier one zone later without any “nerf” — the terrain changed.

Five-player servers mean you might wait on a crowded mine. Do not buy a drill out of boredom in the queue. Buy it when your wall is the bottleneck.

Cash/sec versus the upgrade price

A practical heuristic: if the next drill costs more than a few minutes of current plot income, you probably still have a slot problem, not a power problem. If it costs less than about a minute and the wall is stalling, buy it. If the number sits in between, farm one more rare attempt — see how to get rare squishies — then recheck.

Official art sells a fantasy of $67,93M/s next to a Secret Galaxy Squishy. That income does not come from a starter bit. It comes from stacked generators plus a drill that can actually reach the blocks those generators hide behind. Spending every coin on the shop’s top row while your plot is full of commons is how people stall with a “good” drill and a bad tycoon.

What to do after you buy

  1. Return to first-person. Confirm the pit still has blocks in front of you.
  2. Time a few breaks. If seconds-per-block dropped, the purchase was correct.
  3. Collect, place, and only then think about another upgrade.
  4. If a new zone opened, walk there before buying twice. The second purchase might be the one that matters.
  5. Log the decision in the progression planner so the next session does not repeat a panic buy.

Close the fake SKU list. Open the upgrade button you can actually press. The correct drill tier is the one that unsticks this wall without emptying the plot that pays for the next one.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers players ask after every drill session.

What is the best drill in Drill Blocks for Dumpling Squishy?

The next one that unsticks a stalling wall after your plot is full. We do not publish fake drill names. Read the in-game upgrade row.

Should I upgrade the drill or buy more squishies first?

Fill empty slots first. A hole prints zero. Then use the stall test on this page and the progression planner.

Why did my new drill feel the same?

You may have bought while the wall was already melting, or you moved into a later zone with thicker blocks. Re-test bite time in the pit you actually farm.

Do I need a new drill to chase Secret Galaxy Squishy?

Often yes, because Secret-tier drops tend to sit behind slower walls. Confirm with drill power and keep ranking the slot on the tier list.

Are there named drill tiers like bronze/gold/galaxy bits?

Not on this wiki. If the client labels a drill, use that label. Invented SKUs from other tycoons do not apply here.
